I think this thing might actually happen.
The first question that comes to mind: Is this really a good thing? Or, is this that moment marking the beginning-of-the-end of a life well lived? We've pulled our underwhelming, faded, 18" diameter globe down at least 15 times in the past 90 days playing a pseudo-I Dare Ya' game that so far, has gone unnamed. It's basically one part "Chicken" and one part playground one-upsmanship. We've separately gone out and googled terms like "Round the World Flights", "Is Kuala Lumpur Really Safe for Americans", "Budget Traveler Itineraries" and "I Think My Spouse Wants to Kill Me". We've been toe-testing the waters to see if this was a truly viable option considering the fact that we're actually normal (ie. not delusional or crazy), hardworking individuals. We're your typical Americans. The only difference between the last 89 days and today is that for some reason the discussions took on a new, decidedly more serious track...we started talking about money. Previously, the discussions focused on "Hey, wouldn't seeing _____ be cool?" or "Hey, don't we know someone that knows someone in Tanzania?"
I knew we were at the moment of no turning back today when she said "We're going to make this trip happen. You know that, right?"
I automatically thought of a card I once read. It said "It's just you and me against the world, babe". Then, on the inside, it read
"and I think we're going to get our asses kicked".
